6 Ways To Use Olive Oil

Olive oil is high in a type of fat known as monounsaturated fat. Studies shown that consuming olive oil can lower cholesterol levels while reducing heart risks.  While widely used for cooking, consumers do not have to orally consume this staple to get its benefits. Here are some other benefits that olive oil can bring to the human body:


1. It reduces constipation

A tablespoon of olive spoon can relieve constipation. When ingested, the olive oil softens the stool and smoothens the inside of the bowels. So the next you have a hard time pooping, perhaps giving olive oil a try.

2. It serves as the Pre-shampoo hair treatment

Need something to treat your hair? Try out the olive oil! It provides your scalp with some moisture boost while nourishing your hair.

    - First, warm the oil.
    - Next, apply it onto the scalp.
    - Leave it on for 10-20 minutes before putting on your shampoo.


3. It helps to remove gum and paint from your hair

Getting paint and gum stuck in your hair? EWWWW! Luckily, you don’t have to trim your hair off to get it out. All you need is some trusty olive oil!

    - Apply the oil onto the affected area
    - Leave it for about 5 to 10 minutes
    - Remove the gum/ paint that’s stuck

4. It soothes Chapped Lips

If your chapped lips worry you, worry no more. Olive oil moisturizes and heals chapped lips. Here’s how you can have your own lip treatment:

  - Mix olive oil with course sugar
  - Apply it onto your lips

Don’t worry, this mixture is safe. If you want a hint of freshness, add a splash of lemon juice for that gentle acidic exfoliating properties.    

 

5. It’s a natural Skin Moisturizer

Wonder what olive oil has? A good amount of vitamin E to moisturize your skin. All you need is a spoon of extra virgin olive oil.

   - Apply after shower ( when your skin's a little damp )
   - Leave it for 15 minutes
   - Wash off with lukewarm H2O

6. It reduces diaper rash

Rashes have never been the most comfortable thing to have on your skin. Now, imagine having it on your bottom. Ouch. You heard it right, diaper rash. That uncomfortable rash that sends your little one crying. To soothe the irritation, apply some olive oil onto the affected area. Make sure you pat the skin dry before applying it!
